As we enter the last month of our 2019 Authors Showcase, it is my pleasure to welcome Sarah Owens with her very memorable life experience.

Sarah explains, 'It is a travel piece about my experiences cycling in Vietnam in 2007 and believe me, quite an experience and an incredible challenge.'

Sarah Owens is 65 and lives in Falmouth, Cornwall where she still works for the NHS. She discovered a passion for solo travel in her fifties and has seen the sunrise over the Himalayas and the sun set behind The Taj Mahal. Her travels have taken her from Africa to Australia, across India by train, island hopping in the South Pacific to name a few. She loves to write about her travel adventures and has had articles published in The Telegraph, Readers Digest, Womans Weekly and Volksworld.

Brilliant and unusual for a mature woman's travel story. I was especially impressed by how well Sarah Owens captured the tastes, the smells and the feel of being in Vietnam. The photograph of the children was poignant.

Loved it Sarah. Makes me ashamed of touring through Vietnam and Cambodia in comfort. We loved meeting people from both the north and south which were the highlights for me, but you brought back the memories of the hectic crowds, the smells, the heat, and the welcome we got. Beautiful writing. I almost wish I had done it your way!

Wonderfully evocative writing. I've visited most of those places and you conjured them up before me so convincingly the memories came rushing back. I didn't do the cycling bit though, happy to say, but could empathise with every aching muscle because you tell it so well.
