Cooking Perogies by Syd Blackwell

The Siamese twins of the perogy world
he was talking out loud
as was his custom
while cooking alone
 
And Yolanda didn’t make a sound
 
He prodded at the pair stuck together
floating in their primal bath
with a dozen or so
normal siblings
Both probably wouldn’t survive an operation
he concluded
 
She laughed aloud
and he realized he wasn’t alone
 
He provided some sort of explanation
of his bizarre behaviour
before switching his mind
to a bold newspaper headline
GUTS BOIL AWAY
An attempt last Thursday
to separate Siamese perogies
ended tragically for one of the pair….
