Ronald Mackay graduated from King’s College, Aberdeen University in May, 1967. He was fortunate to find interesting and relatively well-paid work during every one of his vacations and so was able to cover the cost of his years as a student. He worked in the tunnels inside Ben Cruachan (known today as the Hollow Mountain) to help build the hydro-electric power station, on tall buildings in London, in Beaver House in the City of London, and as a beater and pony man in the Scottish Highlands. He loved every minute of the work and of his studies. He and his wife now divide their time between the Netherlands and Tenerife.
