Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Los Angeles, Treisman left to go live in Berkeley with her first husband in 1971 where he went to graduate school and she worked in the administration. After they divorced she obtained a real estate license and tried, with much enthusiasm but no great success to sell homes in and around Berkeley. Then, some years later, married again with plans to go to live in her husband’s hometown, she got a certificate in technical writing and worked for a while writing IT user manuals before moving to Barcelona. Divorced for the last time, she now lives in Figueres, near the French border, where she takes walks with her dog, takes photographs of birds, and when the mood strikes, writes a blog called Beyond The Pale. She recently published a memoir of her years in Catalonia, talking about her adventures as well as Catalan culture and a wee bit of politics. It is called No Regrets: A Life in Catalonia and is available at Amazon in paperback and ebook format. The paperback is also available at Barnes & Noble and brick and mortar bookshops.
