For the past four years I have run Travel Stories and Travel Highlights competitions on this blog. As a result I have published three anthologies of the best entries on Amazon. Both the 2017 and 2018 Editions achieved modest success.
I released the most recent book, Travel Stories and Highlights: 2019 Edition, before Christmas. Despite extensive promotion, sales have been very slow. This is the best edition yet and I am disappointed with this year’s response.
Profits from the book go towards the generous competition prizes on offer. If sales do not improve, I cannot run this year’s travel writing contests in the same way as I have in previous years.
I enjoy running the competitions and my reward has been that they have motivated authors to write their own memoirs. However, because of a change in my circumstances, I cannot continue funding them out of my own pocket.
How can you help?
1/. Buy a copy, if you haven’t already, at getbook.at/TravelStories2019. If you purchase the paperback version, you can also download a Kindle copy free.
2/. Pass on news about the book to family, friends, and via social media. Many thanks to those that have done this already.
3/. Post a review on Amazon. Although fewer reviews are left these days, they are still very important in raising a book’s profile and registering in Amazon’s algorithms.
