It is fantastic to be able to welcome another newcomer to our travel writing contests, Rishita Dey from Kolkata in India. Thanks for taking part Rishita with your great story HOME COMING.

Rishita Dey - Although born and brought up in Kolkata, I had to leave home to pursue my studies and career across the country. Being away from home has taught me to appreciate its true beauty. I have extensively traveled in and out of India. However, I believe no journey can be as sweet as coming back to home. Although by profession I am an advocate, my love for writing has often made me burn the mid night lamp. I am passionate about documenting every journey I undertake which includes my city of birth.

This made me think of what I treasured growing up in a small New England town. Rural, my memories are more the family times, and Mrs. Meliska's pierogis, the smoke-filled town meetings, getting our milk from the neighbors, immense freedom, etc. Thanks for a peek into your travels home!

Hello Nancy. It was a real pleasure to hear from you. Although I have never been to England (and hope someday I will) I could literally imagine the picture you painted with so clearly. I am glad that you enjoyed my little attempt to to show you my city. Do come and visit someday the city if possible. You will surely enjoy!
