After an overnight journey on the train, Fred and his fellow-travellers arrive in Chapra before getting a bus together towards Raxaul on the Indian/Nepalese border. They cross over the border into Birgunj where they plan to spend the night before heading to Kathmandu the following morning.
"We bounced along for hours on a hard surfaced but really narrow road, heading north and stopping at virtually every little village along the way."
