The day does not start well, with another heated discussion between Rita and Fred. Later on they go shopping in Srinigar and Rita buys a lovely necklace as a present for her sister. They also buy their bus tickets for the journey to Jammu on Friday. After that Fred goes off on his own, buys some clothes at a shop called 'Honest Injun'.
"She purchased some beautiful earrings and a pendant made from ‘bluestone’ and silver, a lovely combination. They cost R240 and there seemed little bargaining to be done but they’ll make great presents and seemed like an excellent buy."
