It gives me great pleasure to feature the latest contribution in our 2019 Authors Showcase. Todays memorable life experience is from Robyn Boswell, a regular supporter of our competitions over the past couple of years. I am sure you will enjoy Robyn's story as much as I have. You can catch up with it here. For the last 21 years of my career, I was an adviser in schools, supporting teachers with their professional development. Many of the schools in Northland are tiny - 2 or 4 teachers - and are along hilly, winding roads; often metal (dirt) roads where you have to look out for everything from wandering cattle to fully loaded logging trucks thundering towards you. I drove most of these roads over the years, enjoying some of the country’s most beautiful views and working with interesting people. Every day on Northland’s roads was an adventure!

A great story, Robyn! I loved the images of the 'beat the bull' road contest. I have a feeling there's a book coming out of this?

Thanks Val. I’ve always thought my adventures as an adviser would be auite a book, but people might recognise themselves lol.

Thanks Susan. It actually happened quite a few years ago now, but it was such a hilarious day I went home and wrote about it right away. There were many, many adventures both on the road and in the schools I worked in. Sometimes I was the only visitor the principal had had for a while so they would offload onto me. I even ended up being a marriage guidance counsellor one hilarious day! The road were often much worse than the one I’ve written about here. You had to have your wits about you for sure. Maybe I’ll write about the marriage guidance one next month.

Ever get the feeling we are being looked after? This is a lovely story, reminiscent of long drives in the Highlands of Scotland, along roads that look easy and take ages. Thanks! :)
