The next contribution in this year's Memoir Showcase is a fascinating recollection from Shirley Read-Jahn, accompanied by some amazing photos. You can read Aboriginal culture, Queensland, Australia here. Shirley Read-Jahn was born during World War II and educated in England before becoming a hippy and living in an ancient Roman burial tomb in Matala, Crete. She went on to take up many different colourful careers, including swimwear model, interpreter, landscape gardener, paralegal and events organiser. She also co-founded the highly successful San Francisco Jazz Festival as well as running her own landscape designer business in the United States. Shirley has belly-danced since her thirties, still plays table-tennis, has travelled extensively throughout the world, and now lives in Australia. In retirement, she has she has written so far 2 memoirs, 1 biographical fiction, and written & illustrated 9 children’s books. She was an invited participant in the 2022 Berry Writers Festival. Shirley’s writing is also now in four anthologies to date. She is always working on more books swirling around in her head, which will hopefully come to light in the not-too-distant future. For more information on all her books, please visit her website: www.shirleyreadjahn.com.

Gosh I wish I had met Willie way back when I visited Australia. I did get into Kakadu and we had a guide, but he wasn´t anything like your Willie. Love your memoir.
