It is an honour to welcome our latest newcomer, Madeline Sharples, to the 4th Annual Travel Stories Competition. It is also the first entry this year to be written as poetry. Madeline Sharples is the author of, Leaving the Hall Light On: A Mother’s Memoir of Living with Her Son’s Bipolar Disorder and Surviving His Suicide, in prose and poetry (Dream of Things). She also co-authored Blue-Collar Women: Trailblazing Women Take on Men-Only Jobs (New Horizon Press), co-edited the poetry anthology, The Great American Poetry Show, Volumes 1, 2, and 3, and wrote the poems for two photography books, The Emerging Goddess and Intimacy (Paul Blieden, photographer). Her poems have appeared online and in print magazines and journals. Madeline’s articles have appeared on the Huffington Post, Naturally Savvy, PsychAlive, Aging Bodies, and Open to Hope websites. She also posts at her blog, Choices (madelinesharples.com). She is currently working on a novel.
